About HiddenPod

The quality layer for independent podcasting.

HiddenPod is a discovery platform that scores podcasts on quality โ€” not popularity. Every show can earn a PodSignal℠: a 0–100 score computed from the show's own public data — its RSS feed, episode audio, and metadata — across six dimensions of production and content. No download numbers, no ad budgets, no charts. Just how well the show is actually made.

The problem we're solving

Podcast discovery is broken for exactly the shows that deserve it most. The charts reward what's already big — downloads, marketing spend, and years of head start — so a beautifully-made independent show with 200 listeners looks identical to a mediocre one with two million. Listeners can't surface the good stuff, and the creators making it have no way to prove they're good. Quality and audience size get treated as the same thing. They aren't.

PodSignal measures the thing the charts ignore: craft. That gives listeners a way to find excellent shows before they're famous, and gives independent creators a credential that isn't tied to their download count — a small show can lead its category on merit alone.

What a PodSignal measures
Production signal: audio quality, consistency, vitality
Content signal: topic relevance, content structure, clip-ability

What we believe

We're upfront about what the score is and isn't. It's a measure of how a show is made — production, structure, consistency, topical fit — not a verdict on its opinions, and not a promise you'll love it. A high score means a show is well-crafted, not that it's right.

And we're building it to be affordable first. Listeners browse free. Creators claim their show and see its full score for free, because the point is to help independent podcasting reach the people looking for it — not to gate it behind a paywall. That's the whole idea: make the good shows findable, and give the people making them something to stand on.
